Magazine Front Cover Analysis

This magazine has used a picture of a girl band in their underwear. This shows that it is a magazine for men, you can also tell this because it talks about Oasis, The Killer and Nas, which produce music which most people would stereotype as manly. They may have had them in white clothes because white connotes purity and to also show the angelic side of women. This contradicts the fact that they are in their underwear and the seductive looks they are giving the reader. The colour of the the masthead is purple and does not go with any house style of 'Blender' because they don't have one. The cover lines are put in any spaces that they have seen not important. This also shows that they don't think much about the layout of the magazine, it could also show that they value the picture more than layout.

They the colours they have used are greys, they would have used this because they are more manly colours. To compliment the manliness of the colours they have Lily Allen topless. The red background of the logo is it's house style, they may have chosen this colour to show love and the love that the audience have for the magazine. They may have chosen the white coloured text to show the purity and innocenceof this magazine compared to some othe magazines for men. They have used a image of Lily Allen in black clothes without a top on, this could represent the current mystery which the audience has about her life at the time before they read this and the showing of her skin could repersent the fact that she is reveling eveything in this magazine. The panthers could be put there to show the 'beast' in her and have just given it physical form. They may have chosen to use panthers because they are also black and to the audience that aspect of her is aslo a mystery.

The dark colour used in the background and around the main image of singer Pink contrasts her bright skin tone and hair colour. This makes her stand out more to the reader this also makes it easier to make out that she is looking directly at you (the reader). This make the reader feel more drawn in to the magazine giving them an intimate feeling with the writers of the magazine and the celebrities featured in the magazine. The house style for the masthead is the same as all the other magazines published by the Rolling Stone, the red on the masthead could conote the passion and love that people have for music, it could also conote the anger and pain that have inspired a lot of singer to write/sing some of their songs that they have published. All the cover lines are white making them stand out from the black background and drawing your eye to them. It has a quote from pink as well on the front page; it's in red and different to the rest of the cover lines. This could be to bring more meaning to the quote as it says "I'm still insane" and the red could show the abnormality that being insane brings to normal life.
